Grass Fix Eco
BERA Grass Fix Eco is a durable, permeable grass reinforcement system designed to create stable, trafficable grassed surfaces without sacrificing their natural appearance. Its interlocking honeycomb structure supports the ground beneath the grass, helping reduce rutting, soil movement and surface damage caused by foot and vehicle traffic.
Ideal for garden pathways, overflow parking, grassed access areas and landscaping projects, Grass Fix Eco allows water to penetrate the surface while providing a reinforced base for healthy grass growth. Manufactured from recycled high-density polyethylene, it offers a practical alternative to conventional hard paving where a green surface is preferred.
Key Benefits:
- Reinforces Grassed Areas: Helps protect lawns against rutting, compaction and wear from traffic.
- Natural Appearance: Allows grass to grow through the honeycomb structure for a green, landscaped finish.
- Permeable Design: Allows rainwater to pass through the surface into the ground below.
- Interlocking System: Connected sheets create a stable, continuous reinforcement layer.
- Durable Construction: Designed to withstand outdoor conditions, including UV exposure and frost.
- Sustainable Materials: Manufactured from recycled HDPE and fully recyclable.
Ideal For:
- Grassed pathways and garden walkways
- Residential overflow parking areas
- Occasional vehicle access across lawns
- Landscaped access routes and leisure areas
- Reinforcing grassed areas subject to wear

Installation Guide
Correct ground preparation is essential for a stable, long-lasting grass reinforcement surface.
- Prepare the Foundation: Excavate to the required depth and prepare a compacted, free-draining crushed stone and gravel foundation. The supplier recommends a 200–400mm foundation, subject to the intended loading and site conditions.
- Prepare the Levelling Layer: Install a 50–70mm layer of mixed sand and crushed stone, levelling and compacting the surface. Provide suitable drainage and edge restraints.
- Lay the Sheets: Position the panels in a staggered pattern, connecting the interlocking edges. Allow approximately 50mm clearance at fixed boundaries for expansion.
- Secure the Surface: Lightly compact the installed sheets using a hand roller. Trim panels as required to fit edges and obstacles.
- Fill the Cells: Fill the honeycomb cells with a suitable grass-growing soil mix and water thoroughly to settle the material.
- Establish the Grass: Sow or establish suitable turf and water regularly until the grass is well established. Avoid heavy traffic during establishment.
Important: Foundation depth and construction requirements vary with soil conditions, drainage and expected traffic loads. Vehicle applications should be assessed and prepared accordingly.

Care & Maintenance
- Water regularly while grass is establishing.
- Allow sufficient time for grass roots to establish before subjecting the area to traffic.
- Mow as required, taking care not to damage young grass or expose the reinforcement cells.
- Repair bare patches and maintain healthy grass coverage for the best appearance.
- Inspect high-traffic areas periodically and top up soil or reseed where necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Grass Fix Eco be driven on?
Yes. The system is designed for reinforced grassed surfaces, including suitable vehicle access and parking applications. The foundation must be prepared for the expected loading.
Will grass grow through the panels?
Yes. The honeycomb cells are filled with a suitable growing medium, allowing grass to establish within the reinforced surface.
Does it allow water to drain through?
Yes. The open-cell design allows rainwater to pass through the grassed surface, provided the underlying foundation is suitably permeable.
Can the sheets be cut to fit?
Yes. Panels can be trimmed to suit boundaries, corners and obstacles using suitable cutting tools.
How many sheets do I need?
Each sheet covers approximately 0.21m². Divide your total area in square metres by 0.21 and round up to the nearest whole sheet. Allow additional material for cuts and wastage.
Can it be installed directly over an existing lawn?
No. Proper excavation, foundation preparation and installation are required to provide a stable reinforced surface.
