Coco Peat Pith Block

Magic Soils Coco Pith Block is a premium compressed coconut fibre growing medium that expands with water to produce a soft, lightweight and moisture-retentive substrate. Made from 100% natural coconut pith, it provides an excellent foundation for seed raising, propagation, hydroponics and creating your own potting mixes.

Its naturally porous structure helps retain moisture while maintaining airflow around developing roots. With no added chemicals, low salt content and a pH range of 5.2–6.8, Coco Pith is a versatile growing medium suitable for a wide range of horticultural applications.

Conveniently compressed for easy storage and handling, each block expands to many times its original volume when hydrated, providing a practical and renewable alternative to traditional peat-based growing media.

Block Sizes & Expansion Volumes:

Expansion volumes are approximate and may vary depending on hydration and how the material is loosened.

How to Use:

1. Place in a container: Position the compressed Coco Pith Block in a large bucket, tub or wheelbarrow with sufficient room for expansion.
2. Add water: Gradually add clean water and allow the block to absorb moisture. The larger 5kg block may require approximately 30 litres of water, as directed on the packaging.
3. Allow to expand: Leave to soak for approximately 20 minutes, adding more water if required.
4. Break apart: Gently loosen and mix the hydrated coir by hand or with a suitable garden tool until it forms an even, fluffy consistency.
5. Prepare for planting: Use as a component in your preferred growing mix, combining with compost, coconut husk chips or other suitable ingredients as required.
6. Add nutrients: Incorporate an appropriate fertiliser or nutrient solution for the plants being grown.

Important Information:

• Coco Pith is a growing medium and does not contain added fertiliser. Additional nutrients are generally required for sustained plant growth.
• For long-term container planting, blend with suitable ingredients to provide the drainage, structure and nutrition required by your plants.
• Do not overwater. Although Coco Pith retains moisture effectively, containers must still have adequate drainage.
• Store unused compressed blocks in a cool, dry location until required.
