Cactus Mate is a plant food enriched with plant-available silica, minerals, trace elements, organic material, and garden-friendly microbes. Contaminant-free, it excludes manures, blood and bone, or synthetic fertilizers.
What it does:
- Improves soils and promotes healthier plants that establish faster, require less maintenance, and are less prone to rotting.
- Helps plants resist pests and diseases and improves flowering.
- Encourages earthworm activity.
Where and when to use it:
- In the preparation of all new and existing cacti, succulent, or mixed gardens, especially at the bottom of the hole when planting.
- Added to potting mix when potting up or repotting encourages faster root growth and less rotting.
How often to use it:
- Cacti: Every 3 months for the first 12 months, then 1-2 times per year after that. Top-up dose if soil or potting mix is getting excess water.
- Succulents: Every 3-4 months.
Application rate:
- General Fertilizing: 300-500gm/m² (3-5 handfuls)
- Most Planting/Transplanting Situations: 100-200gm (1-2 handfuls) to the planting hole and 200-300gm (2-3 handfuls) around the plant.
- Problem Soil or Areas: 500-800gm/m² minimum (5-8 handfuls)
- Pots: 1 tablespoon/200mm pot diameter
