Planting depths -When using shallow containers, plant larger bulbs such as Daffodils and Hyacinths just below the surface and closer together than the garden (23cms apart ). Plant small bulbs like Freesias at the same depth as in the garden, but closer together. In large, deep containers, plant several layers of bulbs for more flowering over a longer period.

1. Use Debco Bulb Premium Potting Mix straight from the bag. For the best results do not mix with anything. Close the bag tightly after use.
2. Choose a pot or container at least 10–12cm deep with ample drainage holes for healthy root growth –waterl-oggingis the greatest enemy of potted bulbs.
3. Daffodils, Tulips, Hyacinths, Liliumsand Crocus prefer a cool root zone, so terracotta containers are the best option. Pots should be located in a cool dark area until the growing shoot is 5cm high.
4. Take care bulbs do not touch each other or the walls of the container.
5. Once planted, settle the mixture by gently tapping the bottom of the container on the ground. Soak thoroughly to ensure water penetrates all the mixture. Maintain moisture while growing.
6. When flowering is complete and the leaves begin to yellow and collapse, move the pot to a less obvious location and maintain your watering program.
7. Once the leaves begin to die down, larger bulbs are best removed from the pot, stored in a warm, dry place and replanted the following season. Smaller bulbs can be left in.
8. Top-dress as new shoots appear.
9. Refer to growing instructions on bulb packaging.
10. After flowering - Allow new bulbs to develop and continue watering as the foliage dies back. Reduce watering and gradually dry out. When dry, lift bulbs from the pot and store in paper bags until the Autumn, when they can be transplanted into the garden for next season’s flowering.
